인류에게 앞으로 미래의 가치 추구 방향이 무엇인지 논의하는 담론들이 속속 등장하고 있다. 이 와중에 가상과 실제를 넘나드는 상황이 복합적으로 우리에게 다가왔다. 그러나 위의 상황과는 별개로 물질적인 측면에서는 인류로 존재하기 위한 의식주의 가치와 함께 보호받을 공간에 대한 욕구는 다양한 유형으로 사회적인 영향을 미치고 있다. 집을 구하고, 살고, 보호받아야 하는 현실은 금전적인 가치 추구의 방향까지도 함께 변화시키고 있다. 이 프로젝트는 위의 내용을 바탕으로 제작하는 작업으로 현 인류가 추구하는 물질적 가치에 대한 이해와 욕망을 건축적 접근 및 인공지능을 비롯한 현대적 기술의 관점으로 재해석한 미디어 인스톨레이션 콘텐츠를 선보이는 것을 목표로 한다.
이를 위해 한국 특유의 건축적 확장의 결과인 ‘아파트(Apartment)’를 소재로 하고 시대적인 변화와 흐름까지 작업에 반영하여, 이 작품을 통해 물질만능주의에 대한 열망을 성찰하는 방향으로 되짚어보려 한다. 이에 따라 작업의 주요 제작과정은 인공지능 학습에 매개변수(parameter)로 약 5년동안 서울의 부동산통계정보시스템 (http://r-one.co.kr / Real Estate Statistical Information System Index)의 각종 지수 데이터로 이미지와 영상, 사운드를 구현하였다. 이때 사용된 데이터는 서울의 부동산을 4개의 권역으로 분할하여 상정하고, 각 권역의 부동산 가격 변화 추이를 기초로 하였다. 특히, 영상의 경우는 데이터들이 인공지능(stylegan, Biggan, Pix2Pix 등)학습의 학습률, 손실 함수, 미니배치 크기, 에포크 수등에 적용된다. 이는 건축물의 파사드 형태로 보이는 영상설치로 구현되며, 인공지능이 생성한 건축의 양식, 구조, 색감 등이 해당된다.
Discourses are emerging one after another to discuss the future direction of value pursuit for mankind. In the meantime, a situation that crosses virtual and real has come to us in combination. However, apart from the above situation, in terms of materiality, the desire for a space to be protected along with the value of consciousness to exist as mankind has a social impact in various types. The reality of finding, living, and being protected is also changing the direction of pursuing monetary value. This project aims to present media installation content that reinterprets the understanding and desire of material values pursued by modern humans from the perspective of architectural approaches and modern technologies, including artificial intelligence. To this end, I would like to review the direction of reflecting on the desire for materials by using ‘Apartment’, which is the result of Korea’s unique architectural expansion, and reflecting the changes of the times in the work. Accordingly, the main production process of the work was parameters for artificial intelligence learning, and images, videos, and sounds were implemented as the Real Estate Statistical Information System Index of Korea for about 5 years. Technology becomes a starting point and attempts to look back on human life.
