Connecting, Intertwining, and Weaving: About the Event 2025, Individual Work
잇기, 엮기, 짜기 : 그사건에대하여 / Connecting, Intertwining, and Weaving: About the Event Deep learning frameworks(custom sLM, Veo3, midjourney v1, runwayML Gen-4, Kling 2.0, Wan 2.2, etc), display, speaker, divxplayer 1ch 04:56 / 2ch 03:18 / 3ch 04:28 / 4ch 04:40 2025

‘Connecting, Intertwining, and Weaving : About the Event’ is a 4-channel video work based on information aesthetics that explores the essence of existence, meaning, and connection through the textile production process of an industrial city. Four non-human narrators—cotton fiber, weaving machine, chemical wastewater, and electromagnetic field—unfold narratives of production and extinction, change and persistence from their respective perspectives.

In the first channel, cotton fiber testifies to the transformation of identity beyond physical existence, starting from its molecular structure. The second channel’s weaving machine recalls mechanical memories accumulated through decades of operation. In the third channel, chemical wastewater confesses the death and regeneration of color within cycles of pollution and purification. The fourth channel’s electromagnetic field prophesies as an informational mediator connecting present and future within frequency domains.

Each narrator is constructed based on actual industrial report-type data, transforming specific regionality into elementalized microscopic narratives. Different temporalities and modes of existence—material transformation (fiber), mechanical persistence (weaving machine), chemical circulation (wastewater), and informational connection (electromagnetic field)—intersect and ultimately converge toward questions about the subjectivity of meaning creation.

The work’s text, video, and sound are all produced through generative AI, with other-entities representing each element leading the narration as if in a possessed state. These non-human narrators’ monologues deconstruct anthropocentric narratives and highlight the intrinsic voices inherent in matter, machinery, chemistry, and physical phenomena.

Through their testimonies, the work reveals the complexity of industrial ecosystems where production and disposal, creation and extinction circulate, while simultaneously exploring how individual entities connect and generate meaning within vast networks. Ultimately, it suggests that while life’s direction is unpredictable, discovering and creating meaning within that process is the common role of all existing things.
